Ambassador Abdul-Mutallib Thabit, Libya’s Permanent Delegate to the Arab League and Chargé d’Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Cairo, met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, to extend his congratulations on his appointment as Secretary-General. Thabit wished him every success in fulfilling his responsibilities to advance joint Arab action and achieve the aspirations of the Arab people.
Ambassador Thabit expressed his great confidence in Nabil Fahmy, highlighting that his extensive diplomatic and political expertise will bolster the role of the Arab League’s General Secretariat in confronting regional challenges and activating mechanisms of joint Arab action to serve the interests of member states.
For his part, the Arab League Secretary-General expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the leadership and people of Libya for their warm congratulations. He emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination among Arab nations, working in a spirit of cooperation and solidarity to strengthen the Arab League’s standing and enable it to fulfill its mission in serving Arab causes and defending the shared interests of the Arab nation.
During the meeting, Ambassador Thabit conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Dr. Mohamed Younmen Al-Menfi, and the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Engineer Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, to the Secretary-General. He also transmitted the congratulations of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, affirming their full support for him in discharging his duties and wishing him success in leading the General Secretariat of the Arab League in the coming phase.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance the Arab League’s role in fostering regional solidarity and developing mechanisms for cooperation and coordination among member states, thereby bolstering the League’s capacity to fulfill its responsibilities across political, economic, and developmental fields.
Ambassador Thabit reaffirmed Libya’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Arab League and its belief in the League’s vital role as an overarching framework for joint Arab action. He stressed Libya’s dedication to actively contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing security, stability, development, and integration among Arab nations.
