Former U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Hero Mustafa Garg, has launched a new podcast titled “Negotiating the World,” marking her transition from diplomacy to media. The program aims to provide in-depth discussions on international politics, diplomacy, and decision-making in global affairs.
The podcast hosts prominent political and diplomatic figures from around the world to offer insider perspectives from decision-making circles. It seeks to shed light on the behind-the-scenes aspects of international negotiations and key geopolitical issues, drawing on Mustafa’s nearly three decades of experience in diplomacy and public service.
Mustafa chose former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy as the guest for the inaugural episode. Fahmy, one of Egypt’s and the Arab world’s most distinguished diplomats, discussed a range of regional and international issues, along with developments in the Middle East political landscape and the future of diplomacy amid rapid global shifts.
According to the podcast’s official description, “Negotiating the World” aims to take listeners beyond closed doors by examining the mechanics of negotiation and decision-making in major international dossiers. The program also analyzes power balances and tools of influence that shape relations between states.
The show focuses on delivering specialized content that combines practical experience with political analysis. It features former officials, diplomats, and international relations experts to discuss the key issues shaping the contemporary international system and to explain the background of events beyond conventional news coverage.
The launch follows Mustafa’s departure from the U.S. State Department in January, concluding a long career in which she held several senior diplomatic posts, most notably serving as U.S. Ambassador to Egypt.
Mustafa has previously stated that her new venture seeks to build a dialogue platform that allows the public and followers to gain insight into the experiences of decision-makers and diplomats who have managed complex international files. The goal, she said, is to enhance public understanding of the political and diplomatic interactions that shape the world.
The launch of “Negotiating the World” comes at a time of accelerating geopolitical shifts and rising interest in specialized analytical content. The podcast adds to the growing number of media platforms offering in-depth readings of international events and presenting the experiences of officials involved in policymaking, crisis management, and international negotiations.
