An Omani business delegation from the North Al Batinah branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and Sokhna Port as part of efforts to explore new industrial, logistics and investment opportunities between the two countries.

The delegation, led by Said bin Ali Al Abri, chairman of the North Al Batinah branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, included representatives from the private sector and institutions involved in industry, energy, logistics, maritime services and other economic activities.

The visit focused on the industrial and logistics ecosystem developed around Sokhna, one of the main investment hubs within SCZONE and a key component of Egypt’s strategy to attract manufacturing and trade-oriented projects.

Omani delegation tours industrial projects in Sokhna

During its visit to the Sokhna Industrial Zone, the delegation toured several industrial projects, including Elite Solar Suez Technology and the Egyptian operations of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Steel Structures – CSCEC STEEL.

Delegation members were briefed on manufacturing activities currently operating within the zone, the scale of existing investments and opportunities available for companies seeking access to the Egyptian market as well as regional export routes.

Elite Solar’s facility is particularly relevant to Egypt’s efforts to expand manufacturing linked to renewable energy. The company has developed an integrated solar manufacturing complex in Sokhna covering the production of photovoltaic cells and modules.

The delegation also reviewed SCZONE’s infrastructure and the way industrial facilities are connected with ports and logistics services, an integration intended to reduce transport times and facilitate access to international markets.

SCZONE officials accompanying the delegation included Dr. Tamer El-Waseq Bellah, General Director of International Relations, and Sherehan Alaa Abbas, Assistant General Director of Marketing and Communication.

Sokhna Port highlights logistics potential

Following the industrial visits, the delegation travelled to Sokhna Port, where it was received by Rear Admiral Mostafa Mohamed Mahmoud, Head of the Central Administration of Sokhna Port.

The Omani representatives were briefed on the port’s operational capabilities, infrastructure and role within the wider SCZONE logistics network.

Sokhna Port serves as a major gateway on the Red Sea and forms part of Egypt’s broader effort to connect manufacturing zones with maritime trade corridors linking the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe.

For potential investors, the proximity between the industrial zone and the port is one of Sokhna’s principal advantages, allowing manufacturing projects to combine production, storage and export operations within the same economic area.

Egypt and Oman seek deeper investment ties

The visit comes amid broader efforts by Egypt and Oman to expand bilateral economic cooperation beyond traditional trade and encourage new partnerships in manufacturing, logistics and infrastructure.

North Al Batinah is itself one of Oman’s most important industrial and logistics regions and includes Sohar, a major port and industrial hub. The participation of representatives linked to the governorate therefore gives the visit an additional commercial dimension, particularly in areas where the two countries have complementary interests.

For Egypt, attracting Omani capital into SCZONE would support its strategy of positioning the Suez Canal corridor as a regional manufacturing and logistics platform. For Oman, investment opportunities in Sokhna could provide companies with access to Egypt’s domestic market as well as established trade routes connecting Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

The visit reflects growing interest on both sides in translating bilateral political relations into more concrete business partnerships, particularly in sectors where industrial production and port infrastructure increasingly operate as part of the same regional supply chains.
