Egypt and Moldova Strengthen Diplomatic Ties as Ambassador Orfi Presents Credentials to President Maia Sandu

Ambassador Mohamed Mostafa Orfi, Ambassador of Egypt to Romania and non-resident to Moldova, presented his credentials to Moldovan President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace in Chișinău, formally assuming his diplomatic duties. On this occasion, the Egyptian Ambassador conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Moldovan head of state.

During the meeting, Ambassador Orfi reviewed the current state of bilateral relations between Egypt and the Republic of Moldova, highlighting cooperation in key sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, information technology, and energy. He emphasized Egypt’s aspiration to further elevate bilateral ties and expand cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere.

For her part, President Maia Sandu asked the Ambassador to convey her greetings and appreciation to the President of Egypt. She commended Egypt’s role in promoting stability and peace in the Middle East during what she described as a critical period for the international community.

The Moldovan President also expressed gratitude for Egypt’s assistance in facilitating the evacuation of Moldovan citizens during the war in Gaza. She reaffirmed Moldova’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt in areas of mutual interest, especially energy, agriculture, and information technology.

Both sides underlined the importance of continued coordination within the framework of the United Nations, reflecting a shared commitment to multilateral engagement and constructive international cooperation.
