Egypt’s Diplomatic Efforts Prioritize Regional Security and Stability, Says Foreign Minister

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, reviewed the most prominent diplomatic initiatives and efforts undertaken by Egypt in addressing current regional issues, emphasizing its pivotal role in supporting regional and international security and stability. He discussed the parameters and directions of Egyptian foreign policy, explaining the foundations upon which it is based in dealing with various issues, foremost among them preserving regional security and stability, supporting political and diplomatic solutions to various crises, and safeguarding the resources of nations and their national institutions.

This came during the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs’ reception of a number of heads of media organizations and institutions, heads of newspaper boards of directors and editors-in-chief, along with a select group of thought leaders, media figures, and journalists accredited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a Ramadan Iftar banquet, as part of the Ministry’s commitment to regular communication with the media.

The Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the important role played by the media in Egypt, especially during this critical and historic period for the region. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening continuous and constructive communication with various media institutions to support national interests and solidify Egypt’s position on the regional and international stages.

The meeting also addressed the serious developments in the region. The Foreign Minister reviewed his Gulf tour, which included five countries, undertaken at the behest of the President of the Republic. He affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity—leadership, government, and people—with its brothers in the Gulf states and Jordan, and reflected the strength of the fraternal relations and historical ties that bind Egypt to its sister nations.

He stressed Egypt’s categorical rejection and condemnation of the Iranian attacks on the territories of brotherly Arab states, asserting that there is no justification for these heinous attacks and that any infringement upon the sovereignty of any Arab state is a direct attack on Egyptian and Arab national security.

The Foreign Minister warned of the grave repercussions of the current military escalation and the expansion of the conflict, stressing the need to de-escalate and prioritize diplomacy, dialogue, and reason to prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos. He also emphasized the importance of establishing post-war regional arrangements to safeguard Arab national security.

Minister Abdel-Aty also addressed developments in several regional issues, including the Palestinian question, Sudan, and Lebanon. He discussed the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of continued support for the Palestinian cause and expediting the empowerment of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to assume its responsibilities.

He considered this a crucial step in managing the transitional phase, ultimately enabling the Palestinian National Authority to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He also stressed the importance of supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts and improving the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

Regarding developments in Sudan, Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to undermine Sudan’s unity or territorial integrity. Sudanese sovereignty, and supporting its national institutions. He also emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to support the humanitarian response and facilitate the delivery of aid throughout the country.

The meeting included an interactive dialogue between the Foreign Minister and the participants, addressing various regional issues. Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized the crucial role of the media during this critical and sensitive period in the region, in informing public opinion, highlighting the facts, and refuting claims, thereby contributing to raising societal awareness and supporting national interests.
