Rareș Bogdan delivered a strongly worded speech in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, sharply criticizing what he described as the European Union’s hesitation in the face of the crisis in the Middle East and calling for a clear alignment with the United States, Israel, and the United Kingdom.

The Romanian Member of the European Parliament argued that Europe remains paralyzed by procedures and diplomatic nuances at a time when the geopolitical situation is rapidly and violently evolving.

Excellencies, we have nothing to discuss with Tehran. The time of poetic diplomacy and negotiations has passed. Unfortunately, today weapons are speaking,” Rareș Bogdan declared in the plenary session of the European Parliament.

According to him, the European Union has lost precious time attempting to preserve diplomatic channels in a situation where the dynamics of the conflict have already moved beyond the phase of negotiations.

The European Union keeps searching for talking points—asking, requesting, for what exactly? Instead of standing from the very first minute alongside the United States, Israel, and the United Kingdom, Brussels remains trapped in procedures and semantic nuances while history is changing tectonically,” the Romanian MEP said.

Rareș Bogdan: The Iranian Regime Is Losing Its Allies

In his speech, Rareș Bogdan argued that the regime in Tehran is gradually losing the support of major powers that had previously tolerated its actions.

The regime of the ayatollahs in Iran no longer has allies. China and Russia are merely watching and offering symbolic gestures,” he stated.

The Romanian MEP also referred to economic and strategic developments which, in his view, suggest that both Beijing and Moscow are distancing themselves from Iran’s current leadership.

Satellite data show that the Chinese tanker fleet has withdrawn from the contact zones, securing its routes. This means that even Beijing is no longer betting on the current regime in Tehran,” Rareș Bogdan said.

He also claimed that Russia has invoked force majeure clauses to freeze certain agreements with Iran.

Russia has invoked a force majeure clause to suspend its agreements with Iran. It has understood that its supplier of drones and missiles has been effectively decapitated,” the Romanian MEP added.

Warning About Security Risks for Europe

Rareș Bogdan warned that Europe could become directly vulnerable if the conflict expands and if Iran decides to activate networks or radical cells on European territory.

European citizens are victims of propaganda that launches hundreds of false narratives every second,” he said.

At the same time, the Romanian politician emphasized the significant economic interests Europe has in the region.

We have three million European residents in the area and more than 200,000 active companies,” Rareș Bogdan noted.

According to him, the real risks could emerge after Iran’s direct military capabilities begin to diminish.

When Iranian missiles and drones are exhausted, the next phase will begin. Terrorist cells activated by Iran on European territory could turn everyday life into a nightmare, and only then will we face a truly serious problem before our citizens,” he warned.

A Call for a Strategic Decision by Europe

In the final part of his intervention, Rareș Bogdan argued that the European Union must decide quickly whether it will act alongside its Western allies or continue to hesitate.

The only option now is to stand alongside the coalition of the United States, Israel, and the United Kingdom. We must act quickly, without the typical Brussels delays, postponements, and hesitations,” the Romanian MEP said.

The message delivered in Strasbourg represents one of the strongest positions recently expressed in the European Parliament regarding the Middle East conflict and the role of the European Union within the Western security architecture.

We either act alongside the United States, Israel, and the United Kingdom, or we accept the consequences of the disaster created by a Tehran regime that will further destabilize the Middle East and threaten an indecisive Europe,” Rareș Bogdan concluded.
