Kuwait–Egypt relations have reached their highest level in history, according to Kuwaiti Ambassador to Cairo Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanem, who affirmed that bilateral ties are witnessing unprecedented development under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The ambassador emphasized that both leaders remain committed to strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors and continue to oversee the steady expansion of this strategic partnership.

His remarks were delivered during a ceremony hosted by the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Cairo to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Kuwait’s National Day and the 35th anniversary of its Liberation Day. The event was attended by Ambassador Talal Khaled Al-Mutairi, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, and Dr. Sherif Farouk, Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, representing Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

Numerous ambassadors, senior officials, public figures, and members of the diplomatic and consular corps from several countries were also present, highlighting the significance of Kuwait–Egypt relations within the broader regional context.

A strategic partnership rooted in history

Ambassador Al-Ghanem underscored the deep historical foundations of Kuwait–Egypt relations, describing them as built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared destiny between two brotherly nations and peoples. He noted that cooperation between the two countries dates back to the early twentieth century and reflects aligned strategic visions on key regional and Arab issues.

He further explained that the strong personal ties between the leaderships of both nations, combined with enduring bonds of friendship and mutual respect, have transformed Kuwait–Egypt relations into a model of comprehensive and multifaceted partnership. Both sides, he said, remain fully committed to expanding and strengthening this relationship in the years ahead.

The ambassador highlighted several historic milestones that shaped bilateral relations, emphasizing Egypt’s longstanding support for Kuwait, including its role in Kuwait’s development prior to independence and its decisive stance during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and the subsequent liberation effort.

He also noted Kuwait’s reciprocal support for Egypt during critical periods, including the 1967 war and the October War, when Kuwaiti forces fought alongside Egyptian troops. These moments, he said, symbolize the depth of solidarity and shared sacrifice between the two nations.

Economic cooperation and regional integration

Ambassador Al-Ghanem extended his congratulations to Kuwait’s leadership, government, and people, as well as to the Kuwaiti community and students residing in Egypt, marking the importance of National Day and Liberation Day as symbols of national unity, loyalty, and pride.

For his part, Dr. Sherif Farouk conveyed the congratulations of Egypt’s political leadership to Kuwait, reaffirming the strength and continuity of bilateral relations. He noted that Kuwait and Egypt have built a long record of cooperation across multiple sectors, reflecting a durable and strategic partnership.

He emphasized that relations between the two countries represent a model of constructive Arab integration, supported by growing economic cooperation, mutual investments, and expanding trade relations. These efforts, he said, contribute to sustainable development and enhance the ability of both economies to navigate regional and global challenges.

The ceremony also featured a documentary film tracing the historical evolution of Kuwait–Egypt relations, along with a separate presentation highlighting Kuwaiti cultural heritage. The event concluded with a musical performance showcasing traditional Kuwaiti artistic expressions, reflecting the country’s rich cultural legacy and historical depth.
