The FAO Regional Headquarters in Cairo hosted an International Tea Day celebration in cooperation with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Egypt, under the theme “Sustaining Tea, Supporting Communities.” The event brought together the ambassadors of Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia, alongside representatives of FAO, UNDP and WFP, highlighting tea’s role in food security, agricultural sustainability, rural livelihoods and cultural diplomacy. The celebration also featured traditional performances, documentary screenings and national tea-brewing demonstrations from Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia.
