A Symbol of Friendship: Ramadan Celebrations Bring ASEAN and Egypt Closer

In the warm glow of Ramadan’s golden light, a gathering that embodied the spirit of the holy month, the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo brought together friends and partners from across ASEAN and Egypt in an Iftar for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), at the Ambassador’s residence in Cairo. The event was attended by ambassadors of ASEAN countries, diplomats, and representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his remarks , Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt, Dr. Kuncoro Giri Waseso, emphasized the importance of strengthening friendship and cooperation between ASEAN countries and Egypt, renewing ASEAN’s commitment to continue joint work and develop relations with Egypt.

He added that the holy month of Ramadan carries noble human values of contemplation, mercy, and solidarity, noting that the tradition of collective Iftar strengthens the spirit of community and bonds between friends and partners. He expressed his happiness in hosting this Ramadan gathering, which brings together representatives of ASEAN countries and their partners and friends in Egypt, pointing out that this occasion represents an opportunity to strengthen communication and cooperation between participating countries.

The Indonesian Ambassador added that this year marks his first Ramadan in Egypt since taking up his post as Ambassador, stressing that such meetings contribute to consolidating friendly relations and deepening understanding between ASEAN countries and Egypt.

The Iftar included a diverse range of foods reflecting the rich heritage and culture of ASEAN countries, with various Asian flavors representing the culinary traditions of the association’s countries.

The Ambassador concluded wishing that the blessed month of Ramadan brings peace, tranquility, and joy to all, and that ties of cooperation and understanding remain among different societies.
